The
TSOMO RIRI Lake is situated at an altitude of 4525 Mts. and distance of 240
Kms. from LEH the capital of Ladakh. The Lake is in the South East of Ladakh
and its shape is like pearls having large miniral deposit. This Lake is
regarded a legend and there are number of stories to tell about this lake.
The Lake is 8 km. wide and 25 Kms. long and it is breeding ground for
numerous species of Birds. Chief among them is bar headed Goose, crested
Grebe, Brahmin Duck and brown headed Gull. Etc.
Panggon
lake is situated at an altitude of 4350 Mts. which lies in the North East of
LEH. This famous Pangon Lake is 5-6 Kms. wide and 144 Kms. long and more
than half of the Lake is in Tibet. The mountains around the Lake are of
different shape and colours.
The
greatest beauty or attraction in this area are Village of Biama and Dah and
roads are fairly wide. In the gorge of the Indus the Sun's heat reflected
off bare rocks and cliffs is frequently intense. The soil is very fertile
and people used to have two crops in a year. There are also lots of fruits
such Apricots and Apples. The special interest of Dah hanu is its Drokhpa
inhabitants as their features are pure Indo Aryans and it is quite visible
that people have preserved their racial purity down the centuries. If any
