MARKHA VALLEY TREK TOUR

The Markha Valley Trek is certainly one of the most varied and beautiful treks in the world. It ventures high into the Himalayas crossing two Passes over 15,000 Ft. as it circles from the edges of the Indus Valley down into parts of Zanskar and passes through terrain that changes from incredibly narrow valleys to wide open vast expanses. It is made more interesting by the ancient form of Buddhism that flourishes in many monasteries that dot the landscape perched high stop the Hills. As one trek to the upper end of the Markha Valley we are rewarded with spectacular views of jagged snow capped peaks before cross the 16500 Ft. Gonmar La Pass and descenting to the famous Hemis monastery where we end our Trek.

Day 01. ARRIVE DELHI : Assistance on arrival at Delhi Airport and transfer to Hotel.

Day 02. DELHI : Afternoon half day sight seeing of Old Delhi and O/N at hotel.

Day 03. DELHI-LEH : Early morning transfer to Airport for Leh flight. Arrival assistance and Transfer to hotel. Day at leisure to acclimatize the high altitude of Ladakh. O/N at hotel.

Day 04. LEH : Morning visit Stok Palace and its Museum. On way back visit Tibetan Handicraft Centre, Settlement and SOS Children's Village at Chhoglamsar. Afternoon visit Spitok and Phyang monastery. O/N at hotel.

Day 05. STOK-STOK LA PASS 3 hrs : Drive from Leh to Stok and then start Trek to Stok La Following left bank of the River which comes from Stok Kangri. After 2 hrs. trek, climb gently passing on the left and continue trek through small village. Camp at the foot of Stok La.

Day 06. STOK LA-YURUTSE 6/7 hrs: After passing this beautiful stopping valley, ascent towards STOK LA 4900 Mts. And then follow zigzag narrow path. Continue trek by steep descent To summer pastures and follow the river. Camp at Yurutse.

Day 07. YURUTSE-GANDA LA- SKIU 6/7 hrs: Trek along the mountain side and cross small valley Through zigzag steep path. Thereafter cross Ganda La and descent towards Shingo. After 2 hrs. trek arrive in the Markha Valley and continue trek further and reach SKIU. Overnight at Camp.

Day 08. SKIU-MARKHA: 7 hrs. Start trek through right bank of Markha and gradually cross through barren plain and arrive at CHALUK. Thereafter trek along the left bank of river and climb towards Markha Village. Camp behind the Village and near the river.

Day 09. MARKHA-TCHATCHUTSE : Start trek towards the main valley on the right bank through path and cross Humlung monastery. Continue trek along the right bank and reach HANKAR where there are several houses. After crossing broad valley which gradually narrows down and ascent further to cross bridge. Then arrive Tchatchutse and O/N at Camp.

Day 10. TCHATCHUTSE-NAMALING 3 hrs.trek: Start trek through good path towards a small lake and cross pasture to Namaling. This is one of the beautiful high valleys in Ladakh dominated by the Kang YAZE . Trek ascent towards other side and gradually reach Namaling. O/N at Camp.

Day 11. NAMALING-KNOGMARU LA ( 5150 MTS.) - SHANG 8 hrs: Cross the Markha Valley and Ascent towards mountain side which leads to zig zag path towards KNOGMARU LA. The steep descent into gorges and continue trek on left bank to CHUKIRMO. Thereafter crossing right and left bank and reach SHANG. Camp in groves and visit monastery an hour walk. O/N at Camp.

Day 12. SHANG-HEMIS 4 hrs. trek: Start trek along the river bed and then reach a dusty trail Passing through small house and series of Chortens. Leave Martsellang on the left and gently follow towards Hemis. Reach Hemis monastery and overnight at hotel/Camp.

Day 13. HEMIS-LEH : Morning visit the famous Hemis monatery and its village around. After Lunch depart for LEH and enroute visit They and Thiktse monastery. Check in hotel and O/N at hotel.

Day 14. LEH : After breakfast half day River Rafting on Senge Tsangpo i.e Indus River. Evening Ladakhi Culture Show which follows with traditional Dinner. O/N at hotel.

Day 15. LEH-DELHI : Morning transfer to Airport for Delhi flight. Arrival assistance and transfer to Hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 16. DELHI DEPART : Morning half day New Delhi sight seeing and afternoon for shopping. Evening transfer to International Airport for return flight.

NUBRA VALLEY TOUR

The Nubra Valley lies in the north of LEH and is accessible over the Khardong La Pass 5600 Mt. Which is one of the highest motorable road in the world. The road passes through a bridge laid on Glacier which finds its way in Guinness book of world record. The Nubra Valley has opened for Foreigners in year 1994 by the Govt. of India to expand tourist destination in Ladakh Region.

This Valley is on the trade route from LEH and is accessible via Samsar and Karakoram Pass. Apart from unparallel trekking opportunities, the Valley have several Buddhist monasteries such as Diskit Gompa which 350 years old and is situated on the highest point near the villagein which there are about 120 resident Buddhist monks. Nubra is also known for its double humped bacterian Camels. The Camels are led in the forest to graze during summer and brought back during winter season.

The Nubra Valley is 2 Days trip from LEH as Tour Itinerary is given below:

Day 1. LEH-DISKIT: Early morning depart for Nubra Valley by crossing Khardong La Pass 5600 Mts. Arrive Diskit and check in Guest House/Tent and afternoon visit Diskit monastery which is 515 years old. Overnight at Camp/G.House.

Day 2. DISKIT : Morning excursion to Panamic to visit Sulphur Hot Spring and on way back Visit Samstalling and Sumur monastery. Afternoon visit to Hunder. O/N at Camp.

Day 3. DISKIT-LEH : Depart early morning to LEH via Khardong La and arrive Leh. Check in Hotel. O/N at hotel.
